Doctors for Healthy Living Champions Preventive Health at The Hub Karen

On Saturday, 31st May 2025, The Hub Karen transformed into more than just a shopping and leisure destination—it became a beacon for community health. Doctors for Healthy Living (D4HL) in partnership with The Hub Karen, spearheaded a successful wellness screening event in honour of World Hypertension Day and May Measurement Month.

This event marked a pivotal activation in the national rollout of D4HL’s flagship campaign, Know Your Numbers™ (KYN). The initiative focuses on empowering Kenyans to monitor five critical health metrics—blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, waist circumference, and body mass index (BMI)—as a proactive approach to preventing and managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.

Participants began with measurements on height, weight, waist circumference, and body mass indices followed by tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol. Each individual then had a consultation with a clinical specialist who provided tailored advice and, where necessary, referrals for further care. For many, this was their first time receiving such a comprehensive health check. Feedback from participants highlighted appreciation for the access, convenience, and professionalism offered throughout the day.

210 participants—including shoppers, tenants, and staff of The Hub Karen—received free health checks. Guided by a team of 21 medical professionals, the wellness checks spanned seven dedicated health zones, each designed to provide a holistic understanding of individual health.

In many ways, reaching 210 individuals with meaningful care was a greater success than numbers alone could show. The depth of each personal interaction, the first-time diagnoses, and the long-term lifestyle conversations held proved even more impactful.

This impactful event would not have been possible without the support of key partners who amplified our reach and impact. Special thanks to Biocare Health Systems and Highridge Pharmaceuticals for providing essential diagnostic supplies, Minet Kenya for employee wellness engagement, and the Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Centre for leading patient education and screenings.

The collaboration underscored a core belief at D4HL: that community health is a shared responsibility. When organisations come together with purpose, the result is more than a successful event—it’s a sustainable model for impact.

As we continue to scale the Know Your Numbers™ campaign across Kenya, D4HL remains committed to transforming everyday spaces—like malls, workplaces, and schools—into touchpoints for health education and wellness checks.

Because knowing your numbers is not just information—it’s empowerment, it’s prevention, and it can save lives.

D4HL invites you to join us in our mission to bring vital health checks and education to more communities. To learn more about the Know Your Numbers™ campaign or to support our initiatives, please visit www.doctors4healthyliving.org or contact us on info@doctors4healthyliving.org.
